Welcome to The Bars Farm!

The Bars Farm is a family owned and operated vegetable grower and retailer, located at 146 Mill Village Road in Deerfield, MA. We retail and wholesale a large diversified selection of our own vegetables and flowers. We are one of the most diversified farms in our area seeding and selling all of our flowers and vegetables on site at our farm stand and wholesale to local markets and restaurants. Wholesale is done from our converted tobacco barn which serves as our packing and washing shed. Deliveries to local restaurants are also available. We accept debit and credit cards at the farm stand.

The Bars Farm is founded on the experience and education of Herb & Mary Marsh, Allison & Dean Landale and all our customers’ requests and input. While our experience and knowledge help our production, our customers and local restaurant chefs are our greatest asset. We concentrate on quality, freshness and variety.

We believe in a healthy farm system, and agriculture working in balance with the natural environment. This begins with healthy soil that stores water and nutrients which provides a stable base to support plant roots. In a sustainable system, soil is kept in balance and crops are rotated through the fields to replace nutrients in the soil. This is why we believe in and practice IPM. The idea is that as farmers take from the land, they also give back.

We make a living from the land, and we nurture it so we will be able to continue to do so into the future. Sustainable farming enhances and preserves the land, so future generations may continue to use it for food production.

The aim of sustainable agriculture is to be profitable and meet human consumption needs, while being environmentally sound and contributing to the local community.

Allison and Dean Landale of The Bars Farm

The Bars Farm is run by Allison and Dean Landale, with the help of Allison's parents (May and Herb Marsh) and local seasonal employees. Fifteen to twenty acres is now in vegetable production with close to 100 varieties being produced, along with over sixty varieties of flowers, which are mostly sold retail. We have a strong and growing wholesale following among local farmers and restaurants. Quality, freshness and variety are very important to our expanding business.
